Cities are important to India’s growth trajectory as both population and economic activity will soon be concentrated in cities. As India rapidly urbanises, a large amount of energy is needed to power growth and expand basic infrastructure in cities. This provides an opportunity for embedding energy efficiency across the built environment including buildings, public transport, and delivery of municipal services. We presented at WRI’s annual conference about the opportunities that cities provide for energy efficiency as well as climate action, and the possible ways cities can be engaged to drive efficiency in the built environment.
